WHY IT WORKS ?
Crowdfunding - The Concept

Crowdfunding is the (popular) practice of funding a project or venture by raising monetary contributions from a large number of people, typically via the internet.

The crowdfunding model involves the project initiator (student) who proposes the idea; individuals who support the idea; and a moderating organization (Lakshya) that brings the parties together to launch the idea.

How this works

A student initiates a project with information such as the project summary, description, prototypes/simulations created etc. The team also provide the total funding goal and campaign period.

Backers can browse through all projects and pledge to back one or more. Only if the student team reaches its funding goal within the campaign period will backers be asked to fulfill their pledge using a card or internet banking.

Democratize Access to Funding

Lakshya's crowd funding platform aims to give every student an equal opportunity to shape his or her idea - to create prototypes or technology demonstrators. We also hand-hold students through faculty and industry mentors who provide technical guidance.

How will funding be used

While uploading their ideas, students will also provide a brief of how they intend to use the funding. This can be used to purchase equipment, material, labour, and other products or services. It might also be used to cover their travel and other project related expenses.
